UCLA Learn at Lunch with Dr. Kelly Lyle Hernandez

Connect with UCLA researchers over lunch to spur conversations about opportunities for collaboration between local government and the university to address unmet community needs. Forge stronger relationships and create synergy between UCLA and LA government.

Professor of History, African American Studies at UCLA, Interim Director of the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies at UCLA
launched Million Dollar Hoods, the first research project to map the cost of incarceration in Los Angeles. The mapping project traces arrests based on where the arrested persons are from and on what charges as well as how much it costs to lock them up. Data tracked from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, LAPD and LBPD.
