Legislator to Campus: Matt Dababneh ‘06

Our State Government Relations team hosted Assemblymember and UCLA alumnus Matt Dababneh ‘06  at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on July 9 as part of the “Legislator to Campus” program.

While touring the nationally recognized health system, recently named best hospital in California by U.S News and World Report, Dababneh met with Shannon O’Kelley, Executive Director of Operations and Clinical Service. The pair toured the Medical Center’s facilities and discussed ways the hospital’s staff deliver its award-winning services to patients.

During lunch, Dababneh talked with Bruin Caucus Council members, including Jim Davis, Bonnie Faherty, Ed Feldman, Patricia Nguyen and Howard Welinsky, staff and students about his passion to strengthen California’s commitment to higher education. He was gifted a photo series highlighting the construction of the UCLA campus to commemorate his family’s long association with the university. The Assemblymember’s grandfather was a bricklayer during the construction of defining UCLA structures like Royce Hall and Powell Library in the late 1920s. He rounded out the day with visits to professors he studied under during his undergraduate career.
