The UCLA State Government Relations unit hosted Assemblymember Anthony Rendon from the 63rd Assembly District on Friday, October 24, as part of the “Legislator to Campus” program.  His campus visit included meetings with faculty from the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability to discuss the importance of water conservation and the innovative research being conducted by their researchers. Assemblymember Raul Bocanegra’s Junior Legislator Program Visits UCLA

On Saturday, October 18, 2014, Assemblymember Raul Bocanegra’s Junior Legislator Program was hosted on campus by the UCLA Government and Community Relations’ State Government Relations unit.  Bocanegra’s Junior Legislator Program is a leadership program designed to expose high school students from the 39th Assembly District to the complexities of government, business, and education by sponsoring monthly visits to Los Angeles community partners. UCLA Launches Behavioral Health Center of Excellence

On Thursday, October 14, 2014, UCLA launched its Behavioral Health Center of Excellence at the Semel Institute.  Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg was honored for his work in the legislature toward making Behavioral Health Centers of Excellence possible.  The launch was made official when Senator Steinberg had the honor of cutting the ribbon that symbolized the center’s opening.  Recently, Senator Steinberg presented a plan to members of Congress and Vice President Joe Biden for mental health services to be implemented nationwide.  Prior to UCLA’s launch of the center, UC Davis launched its Behavioral Health Center of Excellence on October 1, 2014.
