An Estimated 1.1 million Undocumented People Live in Los Angeles

UCLA Government and Community Relations would like to invite you to Senator Ricardo Lara’s Immigration Roundtable Discussion in the City of South Gate, featuring Marcelo Suaréz Orozco, Ph.D., Wasserman Dean & Distinguished Professor of Education, at the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.

As the U.S. waits to see the effects of President Obama’s recent executive action on immigration reform, the focus is on Los Angeles, which is home to an estimated 1.1 million undocumented people, one tenth of the nation’s total. The nexus between education and immigration has been noted as critical to understanding the future of workforce development and education in the U.S. Led by Senator Ricardo Lara, the discussion will focus on immigration policies taking place at the local, state, and national levels by engaging several experts in the fields of government, education, business, and community engagement.
