Donna Tang joined UCLA in January 2024 as the Assistant Director of State Relations. Her portfolio encompasses the School of Arts & Architecture, Luskin School of Public Affairs, Fielding School of Public Health, and School of Nursing.

Before joining UCLA, she was the Government Affairs Acting Manager at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), the main continuum of care serving Los Angeles County. During her time at LAHSA, she successfully sponsored key pieces of legislation such as, Assembly Bill 1991, Senate Bill 774, and Assembly Bill 1386.

Previous to being at LAHSA, Donna worked at Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Southern California (AJ-SC) as the Education Equity Coordinator for three years. At AJ-SC, Donna oversaw the College for All Coalition, a multiethnic statewide coalition which encompassed over 80 higher education organizations. There, she unified state advocacy efforts for English learners and supplemental funding for LCFF+ schools. In May 2019, Donna worked alongside L.A. Unified to pass the “Everyone Counts Data Disaggregation Resolution”, which increased ethnicity options on school enrollment forms from 19 to 227. Lastly, Donna used innovative data collection methods to lay the groundwork for future transformative legislation to increase the Asian Pacific Islander (API) bilingual teacher workforce.

Donna received her Master of Social Work from San Diego State University and has been living in Los Angeles for over 14 years. She is a child of refugees and the first in her family to go to college.
