Janet joined UCLA in March 2023 as Executive Director of State Government Relations. In this role, Janet addresses key issues affecting the university and its 11 professional schools, leveraging expertise in strategic partnerships and higher education policy. Prior to UCLA, Janet dedicated 11 years to the University of Southern California (USC) as Executive Director of State Government Relations, where she collaborated on advancing education policy initiatives and represented USC before the California Legislature and Governor’s Office. She has also worked on K-12 and higher education policy issues for both Governor Schwarzenegger and Governor Davis. Janet is the first in her family to attend college. Janet is a product of California’s public K-12 education system and is a proud alumna of U.C. Berkeley where she received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and History. She also holds a Master in Public Administration (M.P.A) from USC’s Sol Price School of Public Policy. Janet spends her free time enjoying California’s outdoor parks and swimming. She grew up in Galt, California.
