Williams Lopez joined UCLA in July 2025 as the Assistant Director for State Government Relations, bringing nearly a decade of experience in the field.
Before joining UCLA, Williams held various roles in government relations, most recently at LA Metro, where he supported government and community relations initiatives for key LA 2028 capital improvement projects. Prior to his work at LA Metro, Williams managed state government relations for the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator and served in the office of State Senator Maria Elena Durazo. In addition to serving in the Senate, Williams served as communications aide to the California Latino Legislative Caucus under Senator Durazo’s tenure as caucus chair.
Williams is a proud Bruin, having earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Anthropology from UCLA. Outside of his professional life, Williams is a passionate runner, swimmer, and cyclist, regularly competing in marathons, triathlons, and Ironman competitions.
