Looking Forward

On Thursday, January 8, 2015 Chancellor Gene Block hosted the Los Angeles Area Public Higher Education Dinner at the Chancellor’s Residence with guest of honor State Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León. As head of the state Senate, Senator de León has a critical role in the California budget process. Senator de León is the author of Senate Bill 15, which proposes a budget strategy for the University of California and the California State University Systems that provides additional funding, incentives for graduation and support for enrollment growth. Also, attending the dinner were CSU Los Angeles President William Covino, CSU Northridge President Dianne Harrison, CSU Dominquez Hills President Willie Hagan and Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Chancellor Francisco Rodriguez. Each President/Chancellor was accompanied by the head of their Government Relations unit.

Sexual Assault and Harassment Roundtable

SEXUAL ASSAULT AND HARASSMENT ROUNDTABLE

On Monday, December 15, 2015 California State Assembly member Das Williams and Assembly member Jose Medina, Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee held a Sexual Assault and Harassment Roundtable to discuss UCLA’s prevention and response efforts. The campus community was invited voice their opinions on the topic.

UCLA is committed to providing a safe campus community. UCLA Student Affairs has established the Counseling and Psychological Services, Campus Assault Resources & Education (CARE), and the UCLA Sexual Harassment Prevention Office so create policies and procedures that address sexual assaults.

Survivors of sexual assault can seek an array of services from CARE immediate response from the 24-houf crisis counseling, and get consultations on legal options and referrals for medical options.

Additionally, CARE organizes prevention and education programs for the campus community.
